This album is really good. Like, really good. No, seriously you should buy it. Perhaps that’s a little too much… no wonder I make a poor sales man. Regardless of my selling skills, the new Arcade Fire album is an ace in my books. I wasn’t in love with the fire’s second album Neon Bible, but I loved their first Funeral, and I feel like The Suburbs is a throw back to the Neon Bible days.

It’s just good I tell you.

Headphones really do wonders for the musical experience. I have been hearing a lot of London singer Hannah Yadi and her demo Guillotine, but I never really thought much of the song. But then this morning with my headphones on and coffee in hand, I came across her Demo once again and decided to give it a listen. Turns out I need to listen on my headphones more often rather than these mediocre computer speakers. The raw emotion of Yadi’s vocals are quite apparent in this track, with similarities to Marina and the Diamonds. It’s a cheery pop anthem, that I’m sure many of you will enjoy.

Luke and the Apostles was the band that stuck out the most in his email, a Toronto blues group consisting of Mike McKenna (Canadian guitar legend). The track ‘Make Me High’ almost brings me back to the early 70′s, an era I sometimes wish I was apart of.

Another Toronto Yorkville area band, The Ugly Ducklings are a band that have continued on throughout the decades releasing their most recent album in 2008. I’m partial to their early tunes.

Jaill is a foursome from Milwaukee that recently came across my radar. Their most recent album was released yesterday (July 27), I’ve only heard a few tracks, but I’m sure it’s got potential. I think they might put on a good live show too. They are playing here in Van on Aug 19th, I may just have to check them out.

Also, they are a part of Burger Records. rad.
