Here’s the thing.

This album is really good. Like, really good. No, seriously you should buy it. Perhaps that’s a little too much… no wonder I make a poor sales man. Regardless of my selling skills, the new Arcade Fire album is an ace in my books. I wasn’t in love with the fire’s second album Neon Bible, but I loved their first Funeral, and I feel like The Suburbs is a throw back to the Neon Bible days.
It’s just good I tell you.

The Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock
Newest video from Yeasayer – Madder Red
Creep little thing in this vid, but Kristen Bell is easy on the easy.
Can’t seem to find the video on youtube or vimeo, so check it out at Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/video/2010/aug/13/yeasayer-madder-red

Headphones really do wonders for the musical experience. I have been hearing a lot of London singer Hannah Yadi and her demo Guillotine, but I never really thought much of the song. But then this morning with my headphones on and coffee in hand, I came across her Demo once again and decided to give it a listen. Turns out I need to listen on my headphones more often rather than these mediocre computer speakers. The raw emotion of Yadi’s vocals are quite apparent in this track, with similarities to Marina and the Diamonds. It’s a cheery pop anthem, that I’m sure many of you will enjoy.
After a more than amazing email from my father outlining an epic 1968 encounter with Wilson Pickett, I was familiarized with some 1960/70′s garage rock bands. This email sent me out on a search for some of the less mainstream garage rock bands I was not familiar with
Luke and the Apostles was the band that stuck out the most in his email, a Toronto blues group consisting of Mike McKenna (Canadian guitar legend). The track ‘Make Me High’ almost brings me back to the early 70′s, an era I sometimes wish I was apart of.

Luke and the Apostles – Not Far Off
Another Toronto Yorkville area band, The Ugly Ducklings are a band that have continued on throughout the decades releasing their most recent album in 2008. I’m partial to their early tunes.
The Ugly Ducklings – Just In Case You Wonder
I’m sure there will be more added to this in the near future
Props to Garage Hangover for mp3′s and info

I like guitar. I like melodies. I like this.
Jaill is a foursome from Milwaukee that recently came across my radar. Their most recent album was released yesterday (July 27), I’ve only heard a few tracks, but I’m sure it’s got potential. I think they might put on a good live show too. They are playing here in Van on Aug 19th, I may just have to check them out.
Also, they are a part of Burger Records. rad.
I have a habit of not posting things when I put it in my folder of “BLOG POSTS”
So here’s a delayed one. My summer anthem from NZ folks The Naked & Famous. Which was featured in the amazing playlist The Transplants II.
Nevertheless..
She just might be the soundtrack to my entire year. And I’m okay with that.
Neon Gold has done it again.

B-Roc of the The Knocks is back with some more great tunes. It’s one amazing mix, with dozens of amazing songs. Here’s The Transplant II, contain yourselves my friends, contain.
